Lexmark 4580 is same machine from Circuit City

Pros:  none

Cons:  ink only from CircuitCity and Lexmark - they are out of stock. scanner not wireless.

This printer is the same as the Lexmark 4580. I agree with the previous review about how bad the software is. I too tried all the updates and firmware from Lexmark.com and could not get the scanner to work wirelessly.

However the biggest problem with this printer is the deal that Lexmark made with Circuit City. Model #4580 is a special model that Lexmark made for CC and you can only buy printer cartridges #2&3 from CC. However, they have been out of stock on CC's website and Lexmark's website for over 5 weeks.

I'm told that the cartridges are the same as other printers but there is a computer chip on #2&3 that make them the only ones compatible with this printer.

The most aggravating thing for me was that I told the Circuit City salesman that I was willing to pay more for a printer if I could save on cartridges and this is what he sold me. I only wish I had access to epinions when I'm shopping!
