I love it

How do you test a new GPS? Easy, I live on a street that is less than 2 years old. And out of all the GPS's I have tried, Magellen, Garmin, and others, This is the Only one to have my street on the map. That is what I think is the easiest way to test a GPS.

Ok, so how else do you test a GPS. Take a few road trips to places you HAVE BEEN. We used this to travel to my inlaws, and the directions were flawless, including helping us find a restaraunt we had never eaten at for lunch, and a couple of shortcuts I did not know existed.

A second test was driving in our town of Charlotte and the nearby smaller towns of Gastonia and Clover. Again, the Tom Tom had no issues finding out where we were going. The device also is very quick at giving up on you and changing your route so that it matches the direction you are going after it gives up telling you to turn around.

The device is quite accurate and is able to determine where it is as long as it has a signal. We use this device in two different vehicles with no problems of moving the it between the two.

Battery life is much shorter than the 8 hours it advertises, that could be due to the way we use it, backlight settings and the such, but it comes with a lighter outlet so that is moot.

You can download different voices to the device, software installation is a snap. Although if you are running Vista, please go out to the TomTom site to download the right version.
